Breast Enhancement is a rapidily growing area of cosmetic plastic surgery and includes several different procedures. Cosmetic breast procedures include breast augmentation (breast enlargement), which is accomplished with breast implants. Breast lift is a procedure that is often performed simultaneously with an augmentation. In addition to these purely cosmetic procedures, breast reduction is an enhancement surgery that potentially offers both health and cosmetic benefits.
Cosmetic breast surgery gives you a lot of individualized options for changing the size and shape of your breasts. Surgical methods and breast-implant technology have improved dramatically in recent years: breast augmentation is less invasive, with more options and better post-surgical results. For a better understanding of each treatment and to answer any questions you may have we reccomend you schedule a consultation and speak with Dr. Rosen himself.

Breast Augmentation - Augmentation Mammaplasty

Implants are silicone shells filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel (recently approved by the FDA). Before you decide to undergo surgery, we will discuss the placement of breast implants with you at our office in Toms River or Eatotown. Silicone implants and saline implants are placed behind each breast, underneath either breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. The procedure lasts one to two hours and is typically performed with general anesthesia. After surgery the patient's bustline may be increased by one or more cup sizes.

Breast lift cosmetic surgery (mastopexy) is a common, but complex breast enhancement procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts. Breast lift can be performed with or without the insertion of breast implants, depending upon the anatomical factors and needs of the patient.
At the initial visit, you can expect Dr. Rosen to take measurements of your breasts while you are upright (seated or standing). You'll talk about the desired size and shape of your breasts, and about the new position of the nipple after surgery. Dr. Rosen will help you fully understand the extent of the changes to your body.
The breast lift surgical procedure may be performed under Twilight anesthesia. Your time in surgery is typically two to three-and-a-half hours. The degree of lift needed generally will determine the number and length of the incisions. The more lift a patient needs, the more likely the patient will need a lift with more extensive incisions.
Because skin is removed and tissue is moved around, the breasts will be bruised, sore, and swollen afterwards. You can expect to wear bandages or a surgical bra for several days. There may be some pain, but it should not be severe and it can be treated by a prescription.

Many women seek breast reduction surgery because of oversized breasts, a condition that is medically known as breast hypertrophy. Breast hypertrophy typically occurs in both breasts and happens at puberty or soon afterward.
Many factors determine candidacy for breast reduction. Among other points, the best candidates for breast reduction surgery are well-adjusted women whose oversized breasts cause health and medical problems, interfere with routine activities, disrupt sleep, or suffer related self-consciousness issues.
Male Breast Reduction - Gynecomastia
About half of all men today have gynecomastia - enlargement of one or both breasts. Male breast enlargement can be caused by drugs such as anti-depressants, blood-pressure medicine, marijuana, steroids, and others. Gynecomastia may not be improved with diet and exercise.
The male breast reduction procedure can be accomplished with either a scalpel or liposuction, depending on the patient's anatomical needs. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in some cases excess skin as well. The result is a flatter, firmer chest.
